The 7th Annual Spring Martial Arts Retreat 2018

This annual spring event has become a must attend event for martial artists of all styles looking to increase their skills in a friendly challenging environment. Cross training in various Martial Arts helps to improve and support any other arts you may practice.

- Three skilled teachers, Three excellent subjects and one beautiful location. -

The straw bale octagon retreats have quickly gained a reputation as a spring highlight. The open and welcoming atmosphere and skilled instruction make it appropriate for martial artists of all styles and skill levels to attend.

This Spring I am happy to once again be joined by Sifu Robert Walther, head of Snow Tiger Martial Arts and President of the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Council and Sensei Terry Langevin of Langevin Educational Systems.

3 to 5pm Sifu Walther will be presenting a seminar on The Hero's Pose. Using a singular martial art technique with versions that span many different martial arts styles Sifu Walther will help you to unlock the secrets hidden inside kata and forms from all styles.

12:30 to 2:30pm Sensei Langevin's ability to break down martial arts into simple universal principals is amazing. Let him show you how to take the guess work out of strategic positioning and explore the preditibility of bio mechanics in locking skills.

10am to 12pm Sifu Greg Magwood, Hsing Yi Chuan (Mind Form Boxing or Five Element Boxing) is considered to be one of the three main styles of internal martial art from China. Although it does not share the same slowness of motion with Tai Chi Chuan it shares the idea that power is developed from the inside and is expressed outward. At its base it contains 5 "fists" that have in them all the basics you need for powerful martial arts.

With the location of the event in the Madoc Park it is a day the whole family can enjoy whether they are participating in the retreat or enjoying the amenities of the park. The park offers all a family could ask for in a day out, full sized concrete skate park, massive 3 story climbing and play structure and a splash pad. Shade centers, tables and a full canteen makes it all a picnic in the park.
